Fire and Ice

I was born in Harbin, China and moved to Kharkiv, Ukaine at age 1. I never imagined I would return to the city of my birth until I was invited to carve ice and snow at the International Ice Festival—which I did in 2007 and again nearly every year until the pandemic. In honor of my birth city and the extraordinary winter festival city made from ice pulled from the River Songhua,  I created this sculpture of an artist wielding ice, using her fiery imagination and mettle to create beauty.
