Melvin Miller bronze bust
A portrait bust commissioned by the City of Alexandria, to honor the memory and legacy of Melvin Miller, a community leader and activist committed to Civil Rights and affordable housing. In a ceremony to rename its building after Melvin Miller, the Alexandria Redevelopment Housing Authority (ARHA) installed this portrait in the lobby. Using only photos and even a baseball cap (for head size measurement), I created his portrait in clay, and then worked closely with a foundry to oversee its casting, firing, grinding, and polishing.
